Prince was treated for a “drug overdose” six days before his death (dailystar.co.uk).
“The singer’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois last Friday just hours after a performance in Atlanta. His representatives said he was battling the flu, however there were questions about the truth of that as his plane was reportedly just 48 minutes away from home. … Multiple sources in Moline, where the plane made the unscheduled stop, told TMZ the icon was rushed to a hospital where he was given a ‘save shot’ … given by doctors to counteract the effects of an opiate.”

“The 66-year-old KISS singer-and-bassist has branded Prince’s death as ‘pathetic’ because he ‘slowly killed himself with drugs and alcohol,’ he told Newsweek Europe. Gene has said he has no sympathy for anyone who dies from a drug overdose because he believes it was their ‘choice’.”
