Yep, it’s soon that time and things are looking up, with Ariana Grande promising A Very Grammy Christmas (cheekypopdivadigest

But got gummed by Bette Midler (uk.eonline.com).
“Midler made headlines on Tuesday when she discussed the pornification of the pop industry in a new interview with the British newspaper, citing Ariana Grande as one of the many women who, she claims, use their music to promote sex.”
Obviously Bette has an opinion here to sell, but having already learnt well that sugar can overpower as easily as vinegar, young Ariana’s riposte however pretty much won the day with most, tweeting:
Indeed, those old enough to think Ariana is one of Pan’s People and remember a younger Ms. Midler embracing her sexuality on stage back in the day in corsettes may feel that there is a degree of pot calling the kettle… forcing Bette to concede touché:

Mozilla tells Google, it’s not you anymore, it’s Yahoo (computerworld.com).
“Mozilla … announced that it had not renewed its lucrative contract with Google, but instead will use Yahoo as Firefox’s default search engine in the U.S.”
Meaning Bing (search results) of course.
“And rather than have a global designated search partner—as it has had with Google in nearly all markets for a decade—Mozilla will instead strike country-by-country deals”
Yep, that maybe being flipped as a money grab by Moz but it does seem Google was getting a lot more out of their relationship, as you’d likely expect. And, not the only ones to feel short-changed…
European Parliament may propose Google antitrust break-up in draft resolution (reuters.com).
“European politicians have grown increasingly concerned about Google’s and other American companies’ command of the Internet industry, and have sought ways to curb their power. A public call for a break-up would be the most far-reaching action proposed and a significant threat to Google’s business.”
I do however remember the same call to arms on Microsoft’s dominance at the height of the Clone Browser wars in the late 90s (the one Yoda didn’t fight in) and the “choose your default browser” app that hung about on your desktop which made that go away resolved that.
“If you’re visiting any Yahoo property today, chances are you’ll see an “Upgrade to the new Firefox” link in the top-right corner of your browser window. The prompt also appears if you’re using Internet Explorer, Opera and even the new Yandex browser. However, the prompt is missing from Safari, which will surely prompt a new round of speculation about Apple’s rumored switch to Yahoo as its default search engine.”
You know, I have been trying to give Bing (which of course powers Yahoo search too) first search dibbs for some time now, with mixed results. For sure, it has had that with image search for some time longer—you can see the results of that in the Bing It On challenge earlier this year (Pick of the Week 21st May). Have you switched search? Have you even tried? To some degree I feel Google search may have just become the “safe” search option for many in the same way Chrome has become the default browser.
