Sun website to scrap paywall (theguardian.com).
“The Sun is poised to make a major U-turn by scrapping its paywall and offering most of its website content for free. It is understood that News UK, which also publishes the Times and the Sunday Times, has taken the decision to compete against major rivals in the free advertising market such as Mail Online.”
Seemingly with more of a whimper than the roaring bang-bang of Spitfire Britain when it pulled up the drawbridge. Again, for those non-Brits reading, The Current Bun (The Sun) is a daily tabloid, supposedly the British working man and womans gateway to world events, presented along with armchair football analysis, paparazzi and glamour pictorial of large knockers—much as you’ll find on here—but with bingo too.
“News UK made the decision to put the Sun, the UK’s biggest-selling tabloid, behind a paywall in August 2013 following a decision to move the Times and Sunday Times.”
Indeed they did, pretty much breaking all the weekely Picks I’d touted for them; but anyhow, is good as I can stop updating those now inaccessible Current Bun links in old Picks when I come across them. I guess those football coverage extras they promised subscribers not looking for Page 3 melons they could find free on PornHub or Google images didn’t work out for Rupe after all.
