Fashion icon Hubert de Givenchy dies at 91 (variety.com).
Fashion icon Hubert de Givenchy, who founded the House of Givenchy, died on Saturday. He was 91.
The famed French designer perhaps best known for dressing and association with actress Audrey Hepburn and the creation of the iconic “LBD”:
Givenchy created one of the most iconic “little black dresses” in fashion history: the silk gown Hepburn donned in the opening scenes of 1961’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Hepburn famous for not one but two iconic LBD’s, the first being in 1954’s “Sabrina” (lindybop.co.uk), the looks for which Hepburn asked Givenchy to create after launching his own fashion brand in 1952.
