“I am excited beyond belief!”: Lady Gaga CONFIRMS her first Las Vegas residency… which looks set to earn her $14.4 million (dailymail.co.uk).
The blonde pop star, 31, wrote in her captions: “The rumors are true I will have my own residency in Las Vegas at MGM’s Park Theater. I am SO HAPPY and excited beyond belief to make my own brand new show here with my new Vegas family.”
Once seen as the final, but profitable stop on pop or rock career somewhat past its prime, Britney Spear’s Piece of Me residency—although likely a final stop for her—along with that of Mariah Carey, J.Lo, and Ricky Martin and Pitball amongst others have made Vegas “cool and credible” and certainly profitable for all again:

Many have credited Spears’ Piece of Me residency, which ran from 2013 and will finally end on New Year’s Eve, as the one that made a Vegas residency seem cool and credible again. It was one of the most successful to ever land in Vegas, earning around $135m in ticket sales alone, and brought in a younger, millennial audience who had previously perceived Vegas shows as something for their parents.
It needing to be recalled that with easily passed or streamed .mp3s in the digital age, tours are now where the money now is (forbes.com, Jul. 2003); and at Brit-Brit’s Piece of Me spectacular, that was up to $855 a ticket.
Spears demonstrated that a stint in Vegas could be done in tandem with an active music career. During her residency, she released two albums—which both reached top 10 in America—and charted five singles.
