Craigslist, Reddit shut down personal ads in wake of sex trafficking bill (huffingtonpost.co.uk).
Craigslist shuttered its personal ads section after the U.S. Senate passed Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA) on Wednesday.
Reddit also removed some of its subreddits, or forums, as of Thursday night. Four of the website’s banned subreddits were related to sex—Escorts, Male Escorts, Hookers, and SugarDaddy—though none were strictly advertising forums.

Federal authorities take down Backpage.com, accused of being a haven for online prostitution (latimes.com).
The site, long a haven for sex ads, began shutting down Friday morning, as FBI agents began taking down a network of web pages all over the world . A notice on the site said it had been seized as part of an enforcement action by the FBI, the IRS and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
