ABC cancels ‘Roseanne’ after star’s racist Twitter rant (cnn.com).

Being the revived Roseanne which had premiered to huge ratings just three months ago for which Orange Don called her to congratulate—and take some of the credit himself (thehill.com, Apr. 2018). And with ABC being a subsidiary of Disney:

And Barr’s talent agency ICM Partners dropped her too.

The cancellation has apparently “stunned Hollywood” and “industry veterans said they’ve never seen anything quite like it”, which is a shame because many non-industry and not-necessarily-so-veteran could clearly see the writing the normalisation of racism and bigotry Orange Don’s campaign and election had wrote on the wall, with studio now keen to wash it off.

Indeed, being rather repulsive suggesting “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj”, “vj” being Valerie Jarrett, a female top former aide to President Obama.

Barr quickly deleted tweet, apologised and then quickly decided not to tweet again by leaving Twitter, but demonstrating the harm this type of “triggering the libs” (knowyourmeme.com) can have not just on those targeted but on the bigots themself in today’s ever-connected, ever-tracked and never forgotten social networked society; and not exactly following through on the #MAGA promises Orange Don had made for American workers—at least those in Hollywood:

But with fellow cast members as disgusted with Barr’s comments too, and indeed, in case of Emma Kenney who played Roseanne’s granddaughter on the reboot, tweeted that she was in the process of quitting the show when she found out that it had been canceled.

Surly a job for an agent there to ensure stars do not tweet while under the influence in the same way that they would not drive. Saying that, job for somewhat at the White House to stop Orange Don letting rip in the early hours on Twitter when he’s got a bad case of wind (thisisnocave.blogspot.com, Dec. 2017). And not wanting to shoulder the blame either:

Indeed, in the same way that blaming it on the drink is more often than not a cop-out for held but hidden opinions too.

And not sparred her wrath for traitors—perhaps to be later blamed on sleeping pills too:

With the inevitable term “witch-hunt” being used.

And steering it into hypocrisy on the left conspiracy territory used alt-white right feels threatened where really it could only go:

Although to be honest it was all more about himself and how hard done by he feels that he didn’t get an apology and needs to remind all just how mean and nasty the establishment is to him in his position as a very important public figure rather than just exerting his manliness and taking on the chin the sort of insults he often hands out in diatribes on Twitter when he wakes up with that bad wind.

Perhaps he could take a lesson on dealing with such in political life from Valerie Jarrett:

Roseanne exits The Conners, and she is not happy about it (theguardian.com).

The Conners being ABC’s Roseanne-without-Roseanne spin-off allowing the other cast members to keep their job while Barr’s Orange Don inspired exemplary attempt at normalising racism leaves her sitting on the couch in a #MAGA hat with her Twitter folowing as her only audience.

“Opioid” rather than Ambien which according to her got her into all this trouble, and following through on the opioid addiction stemming from knee pain storyline already introduced but leaving Barr understandably unappreciative of the plot twist, saying in a statement that the “opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show.”

The original Roseanne show appealing for its “realistic portrayal of working-class life” and its revival in March was ABC’s biggest hit drawing 18 million viewers per episode, but can the spin off be as popular? Certainly unlikely with those self-identified deplorable hard working class believing it should again be normal to call a spade a spade, like in the good ol’ days:

The Conners ratings are a lot lower than Roseanne premiere (ew.com).

Seemingly on a par with the revival series finale, and certainly much better than nothing for ratings “rough sledding” ABC.
