“The singer, real name Gustav Åhr, was also known for his many YouTube videos which accumulated millions of views from fans. News of his death was announced on social media by Lil Peep’s manager Chase Oretega.”

With what may be considered a degree of emo angst playing to the same GoogleTuber audience his client appealed to with his “I’ve been expecting this call for a year. Mother f***” tweet.

The Swedish-American rapper and singer—and ex-boyfriend of Bella Thorne—hailed by online magazine Pitchfork as the “future of Emo” had much discussed his battles with mental health issues and was due to finish his tour today in California, the suspected overdose occurring on tour bus in Tucson, Arizona where he was scheduled to perform (tmz.com).

And did an earlier tweet himself to fans hours before hint:

And possibly letting decorum have yet another day off while TMZ’s Capt’n All-Caps pens another refined headline:

Lil Peep fans obliterate rapper’s merch … but there’s a big problem (tmz.com).

“Most of the merch was scooped up immediately and some of those who scored merch were notified shipments would be significantly delayed. From what we’re hearing, they don’t have the inventory and are scrambling to make good on the orders.”

The question still is, accidental overdose or suicide?

Lil Peep’s postmortem outcome revealed after rapper was found dead on tour bus in apparent suicide (mirror.co.uk).

“Lil Peep’s postmortem has been completed following his tragic death in an apparent suicide aged just 21. … However, while [The Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner] reveals it suspects a drug overdose was the cause of death, it will now take up to eight weeks for laboratory test results to reveal what really happened.”

But despite the headlines and most reports seeming conclusion that it was suicide rather than accidental overdose:

Lil Peep took pre-show nap never woke up (tmz.com).

“Peep’s manager says she saw the rapper early Wednesday on his tour bus and he appeared to be fine. She says Peep took a nap around 5:45 PM and when she checked on him a short time later he was snoring and breathing without issue. After being unable to wake him, she decided to let him sleep longer.”

With it being only only after Peep’s other manager checked on him later and found him completely unresponsive; it does not suggest which—if either—was actually manager Chase Oretega (Twitter) who emo tweeted “expecting this call for a year, mother f***””.

And Peep’s brother Oskar suspects accident rather than intentional overdose of Xanax:

Lil Peep’s brother calls his death an “accident”: he was “super happy with where he was in life” (people.com).

“Oskar says that the pill Peep took may have been laced and caused his death accidentally. ‘We [the family] have heard there was some sort of substance he did not expect to be involved in the substance he was taking,’ Oskar, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively. ‘He thought he could take what he did, but he had been given something and he didn’t realize what it was.’”

And continuing to point to it being more accidental overdose than suicide:

Lil Peep: Fentanyl-laced drugs may have played role in death (tmz.com).

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … cops in Tucson are on the hunt after receiving multiple tips the New York rapper got his hands on some incredibly toxic drugs laced with the potent opioid [fentanyl].”

Which, as the report points out, “contributed to the accidental ODs of Prince and Eric Chase Bolling Jr.”

Lil Peep: Police investigate death (tmz.com).

Mariah Bons with Lil Peep
“Lil Peep’s death is now the subject of a police investigation and some very troubling private messages are under the microscope … TMZ has learned.”

Who now seem to be referring to it as “Peep’s apparent OD ” rather than the suicide most tabloids originally designated in headline.

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … police are interested in texts allegedly sent from a woman named Mariah Bons … who we’re told went to the tour bus to see Peep shortly before he died.”

Which suggest a texted scene of Peep passing out and not being able to be awoke after getting “high af [as fuck] because of me and my friend lol”.

Lil Peep od’d on fentanyl and Xanax … many other drugs in his system (tmz.com).

“The Pima County Medical Examiner conducted the testing and found the cause of death came from the ‘combined toxic effects of fentanyl and alprazolam.’ Alprazolam is generic form of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax. There were a ton of other drugs in his system though. According to the report, obtained by TMZ, he tested positive for marijuana, cocaine and the painkiller Tramadol in his blood.”

And to finally put the case for suicide to rest:

“The M.E. says the death was accidental. It’s known that combining Fentanyl and Xanax can cause respiratory distress, coma and possibly death.”

LIL PEEP’S MOM SUES TOUR COMPANY FOR HIS DEATH claims he was plied with drugs, pushed to work (tmz.com).

Lil Peep’s mother says his management team and the company behind his final tour supplied the rapper with drugs, an unstable environment and pushed him to the point of exhaustion … all factors that led to his tragic death.

Regularly suppling him with with Xanax, Ketamine and other drugs while on the road, and with mom having filed a lawsuit against First Access Entertainment on Monday.
