Google fires engineer who wrote memo questioning women in tech (nytimes.com).
“SAN FRANCISCO—Google on Monday fired a software engineer who wrote an internal memo that questioned the company’s diversity efforts and argued that the low number of women in technical positions was a result of biological differences instead of discrimination.
“The memo, called ‘Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,’ angered many in Silicon Valley because it relied on certain gender stereotypes—like the notion that women are less interested in high-stress jobs because they are more anxious—to rationalize the gender gap in the tech industry. The memo quickly spread outside the company, as other Google employees railed against many of its assumptions. In a companywide email, Google’s chief executive, Sundar Pichai, said portions of the memo had violated the company’s code of conduct and crossed the line ‘by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace.’”
Good for them, you may—or you may not if you have an alt-Pepe sat on your lap—think, but it did put Google in a bind, the same one that “free speech” is often waved above by those either expressing their opinion or just trolling on social media:
“The memo put the company in a bind. On one hand, Google has long promoted a culture of openness, with employees allowed to question senior executives and even mock its strategy in internal forums. However, Google, like many other technology firms, is dealing with criticism that it has not done enough to hire and promote women and minorities.”
Which is seemingly what chap was hoping to address within his own, or perhaps not, “Ideological Echo Chamber”.
Needless to say, it did raise some echoes as the story aired:
Alt-Right activists call for Google boycott after employee is fired for anti-diversity paper (gizmodo.com).
“…the firing has become a call-to-arms for alt-right voices on the internet who are crowdfunding money for the engineer, James Damore, and are now calling for a boycott of Google. Some of the calls to boycott the tech giant refer to getting ‘red pilled,’ a term popular in alt-right circles for when people see reality clearly. The term comes from the 1999 sci-fi film The Matrix, where the hero takes a red pill to see the real world around him. In this case, alt-right activists believe that getting red-pilled means you can see the misandry [the opposite of misogyny, hated of men] inherent in Google’s decision to fire the engineer.”
But the rest of us just think the “red pill” they took is likely some dodgy paranoia educing meth that likely leads them to sit in their underpants typing furiously on 4chan about what that “feminist agenda” undoubtedly threatens to do to their alt-goolies and not leave the house for 2 weeks.
So, looking for an alt search alternative to cuck Google; hmm, something good may come out of it then—if those on the alt can back their words with action anymore than Orange Don who can’t:
“Others on Twitter have been brainstorming alternatives for Google services, which can be a rather daunting challenge for people who have bought into the Google eco-system. Duck Duck Go and Bing have been floated as good alternatives for search, while Vid.me has been held up as a good alternative to YouTube. Google, of course, owns YouTube.”
And, failing to find the appropriate media on Vid.me, DailyMotion, or Vimeo will soon discover, like Orange Don is, actual change is a tad harder than speaking the words; If only resistance to Google could have come earlier, huh, and didn’t rely on fear of some chaps who’ve not left the house for some time worried about horrible things angry women may do to their shriveling genitalia.

Fired Google engineer James Damore says company is “like a cult” (cnbc.com).
“The Google engineer fired for writing a controversial memo about diversity has gone beyond referring to the company as an ‘echo chamber’ that won’t stand for dissent and now says it’s ‘almost like a cult.’”
Whereas the “echo chamber” and “living in a bubble” terminology often used by Russian alt-right propaganda after which insults are leveled after debate dissent are merely gently arm twisting for your milk chugging allegiance (extracrispy.com, Feb. 2016).
“In a video interview with the conservative blogger Stefan Molyneux that was posted to YouTube earlier this week, Damore called Google a ‘dream job’ with ‘huge benefits’ and said he loved the company. Damore wrote in the op-ed that he ‘committed heresy against the Google creed by stating that not all disparities between men and women that we see in the world are the result of discriminatory treatment. … Damore said that when he tried to engage in ‘reasoned discussion’ with his peers on the issue, ‘mostly I was ignored.’”
Yeah, some may know that angry opinionated type who try to engage in “reasoned discussion” in forum and chat rooms, and I believe most often do try to at least politely ignore in the hope they—like trolls—will just get fed up and go away.
And talking of “cults”, that’s the same Stefan Molyneux who on his Freedomain Radio (FDR) advises intellectual yet somewhat conflicted and confused youngsters to “de-foo” (vice.com), turning their back on parents and family that in most books seems a common dependency engendering tactic in recruitment to such.
“While his cause has lit up the conservative blogosphere, Damore chose to quote famous leftist intellectual Noam Chomsky. ‘As Noam Chomsky once observed, ‘the smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum,’’ Damore wrote.”
Indeed, but when given the chance to speak outside of that “spectrum of acceptable opinion” the “lively debate” of the likes of the alt-right is invariably full of personal insults and half-baked pseudo-scientific appeals to nature (Wikipedia) as they yearn for an idealised 1950s past and quickly move from the “commie socialist” Chomsky to Nietzsche’s “when thou goest to woman, take thy whip” in Thus Spoke Zarathustra (experienceproject
.com), said whip being which Nietzsche seemed to resolutely grip after thrice rejection by Lou Salomé in one summer (wm.edu).
But, to be honest, it seems to be that Mr. Damore is not particular that alt-right, rather more Aspergian lacking in social skills with interest more in sociology, demographics and statistics, and while his argument seemingly boils down to the suggestion that conservatives make better coders, his plight is seemingly being hijacked by his new un-cuckservative “friends”; watch for yourself.

James Damore, Google, and the YouTube radicalization of angry white men (theguardian.com).
“YouTube has in recent years become one of the most influential and powerful social media sites for conservative commentators and far-right and ‘alt-right’ leaders, who have built large audiences outside of mainstream channels.
“The 28-year-old—who was fired over his memo, becoming an instant hero to the alt-right—appears to have taken some interest in the segments of YouTube that promote the idea that men are better than women at certain jobs, and that diversity programs lead to discrimination against white males.
“The Harvard graduate chose the programs of two YouTube personalities with large rightwing followings for his first media appearances this week. At the end of a 51-minute conversation with Jordan Peterson, a University of Toronto psychology professor famous for his anti-transgender views, Damore said he agreed to do the interview because, he said, he was a ‘huge fan’ of the Youtube personality.”

With bugger all coming of the threatening to boycott Google and upload their bush-league alt-right intellectual doodahs to something other than GoogleTube and Svengali-like alt-philosophers giving moral support atop hijacked bandwagon—on GoogleTube:
Engineer behind anti-diversity memo sues Google (telegraph.co.uk).
“In the months since, his firing has become a popular cause among right-leaning US bloggers, and Mr Damore hired a Republican Party official as his attorney. Mr Damore and another white male former Google engineer, David Gudeman, filed the lawsuit as a proposed class action in Santa Clara County Superior Court in California. The lawsuit alleges workplace discrimination and retaliation.”
The lawsuit describing how non-white chaps employed at Google and that feminist agenda caused Freudian castration anxiety and a great deal of shrinkage forcing them to get all combative in a memo instead of giving them M.G.T.O.W. (urbandictionary.com) strength to flip bird to unappreciative employer and take their manly skills down to the YMCA.
“According to the lawsuit, the company has failed to protect employees, especially white men, from workplace harassment related to their support of US President Donald Trump or conservative political views.”

But while suing and waiting for the alt-revolution to arrive:
Google legally fired diversity memo author, labor agency says (nytimes.com).
Before he was fired by Google, Mr. Damore filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board saying that the company had violated his right to engage in concerted activity to address a workplace problem. … Jayme L. Sophir, an associate general counsel at the labor agency, said that Google’s actions were acceptable because they made clear that Mr. Damore was being fired for comments that advanced stereotypes—not for speaking out about the company.
Those “comments that advanced stereotypes” being “he argued, for example, that women were more prone to ‘neuroticism,’ meaning that they exhibited higher anxiety and a lower tolerance for stress, the labor agency said.”
Some might suspect his lawsuit will meet a similar end and he’‘ll have to grow a beard and take to the forest to re-find mans place in the world and his Palaeolithic primal urge.
