I certainly agree with what he writes about the differences in studio systems the two actresses grew up in:

Of course, as he notes, “respecting creative elders” was also a necessity in Monroe’s era, where the casting couch saw as much action as a back seat at a drive-in.
I’m sure sucking-off the director and studio elders carries on regardless for the starlet on-the-make or one attempting a come-back, as some unsuprisingly suggest—Lindsay Lohan blew Paul Schrader so hard he thinks she’s Marilyn Monroe now (thesuperficial.com)—but with Hollywood stars much more disposeable today, when crossing a wrong track they are more likely to get thrown under a passing bus that is no longer halted by studio roadblocks.
