But…
Sunny Leone named in Mumbai obscenity complaint (avn.com).
“The complainant searched out Leone on the internet and found ‘obscene’ images on a website with Leone’s name. Leone was booked in absentia under sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and the Information Technology Act of 2000. ”
As you might expect on her official site but…
“A cyber law expert told the Hindustani Times, ‘Indecent representation of women [in India] is a non-bailable offense, with a maximum imprisonment for five years. The actor could face arrest.’”
But randy Indians do seem to search for a lot of them—but presumably those not in India—according to Google et al., with Sunny herself indicating that 80 per cent of the traffic on her website, and 60 per cent of her revenue comes from India.
Bollywood Sunny
With voluptuous curves and a 34D cup and standing at 5 foot 4 inches tall, Ontario, Canada-born to Sikh Punjabi parents, Karenjit Kaur Vohra, better known by her stage name Sunny Leone, was made Penthouse Pet of the month for March 2001 and the Penthouse Pet of the year for 2003 but began her career in porn proper in 2005 shortly after signing on as a contract performer for Vivid.
Her status as a Vivid girl wasn’t immediately cemented, as she would only work with other girls; her fans however didn’t seem to mind, eagerly lapping up her girl on girl action, and high movie sales convinced Vivid to hang on to exotic Sunny for many years and she filmed her first boy-girl title with them in 2008, moving on in 2009 to form her own production company called Sunlust Pictures with plans to write, direct with control of content and casting but still with Vivid Entertainment as her distributor.
In 2011, she participated in the Indian reality series Bigg Boss but refused to divulge her porn star status but caused such a stir that her Twitter feed gaining 8,000 new followers in just 2 days with Google saying searches for her experienced a “breakout”.
Sunny is one of the few porn stars in the history of porn who has enjoyed real mainstream success after being approached by Bollywood film-maker Mahesh Bhatt and is now a full blown Bollywood star, retiring from porn in 2013 and moving to India with her husband and former on screen porn partner Daniel Weber, aka Ariel King.
And that makes Sunny Leone this week’s porn star pick.
